A writers paradise

July 29th, 2010 by Ruby

I’m escaping at Maya Tulum Mexico on a retreat from the frantic pace of NYC. NO noise of any kind just lapping waters under a mosquito net (and its a nice one at that). I was greeted in my room by a Mayan swan made of towels covered in sweet smelling rose petals which seemed to be waiting for me anxiously on the bed. A honeymoon with myself.. how fantastic!

Sitting under a coconut tree writing emails drinking fresh coconut juice (that Marten just cut down from the tree) is especially rewarding. As I’m sure the 10 am restorative yoga session followed by the chocolate body scrub and massage will be!

Sydney Australia

January 30th, 2010 by Ruby

I’ve just returned from a 6 week house swap in Bondi Beach Australia.
What a joy it was to wake every morning and walk 5 minutes to the Crabbe Hole at Icebergs to devour their lush banana bread (best I’ve ever eaten) with agave sweetened ricotta and the perfect cappuccino. Most mornings I would soothe my soul with the assault of blue and wonder how I could have left this gracious country all those years ago!

The Breslin finally open

October 28th, 2009 by Ruby

The Ace Hotel is going to get a big boost tomorrow when the Breslin finally opens its doors in the morning!
The Breslin will serve breakfast and lunch then add dinner a week or so later. U2 hosted a party there earlier in the month, and Alain Ducasse recently named its fries the best in New York. The restaurant was named for James Breslin, who originally opened the hotel as the Breslin in 1904 and hosted the longest boxing match in history in a special ring he built in its basement.

For anyone interested hotel rates for certain November dates commence $270 and up….

South Beach getaway

The Raleigh just is...

As far as I'm concerned the only hotel to stay in on South Beach is The Raleigh. Old School elegance and old school attentive service. (without the attitude) One just wants to lie back on their deck chair by the magnificent pool and imagine ones self in the midst of an iconic bygone era. Where Frank and Dean could have easily been sat next door with scripts in hand discussing their next venture. The Raleigh doesn't need to try, it just is.....
